England Hill Vol Fire Dept. was establised in 1978, England Hill Fire Department proudly protects Approx 10000 people
living in an area of 66 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department
is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. We run anywhere between aprox 150-200 calls a year, from motor
vechicle accidents, structure fires, search&rescue, swift water rescue, BLS & ALS medical calls, vechicle fires, brush
fires, tri-state airport, fire alarms, hazmat, rope and rescue and mutual aid calls. Our station has around 40
members, including 9 officers, 16 firefighters, 8 juniors, 7 board memebers. We have a total of 8 apparatus, including: 3
engines, 4 tankers/pumpers, 1 rescue boat. England Hill Fire Department, is a Multi-Hazard response
agency. In our district we have an oil refinery that produces 2% of the nation's fuel and a facility which is the second largest
producer of activated carbon in the world.We also have a tri-state aiport located in wv we assit our help to, Boyd County,
in which the Department is located, has more hazardous materials per capita than any other County in the Commonwealth, The
services provided are:

Information on becoming an England Hill Vol Firefighter
The applicant has to be 18 yrs of age, to become a firefighter, and live in the district of our fire
dept.
The applicant has to be 14 yrs of age, to become a (Junior) firefighter and live in the district of out fire dept, and
has parent or guardians concent.
If accepted the applicant has to pass a drug test and a background check, only including the applicants over 18 yrs of
age.
If accepted the applicant must have 20 hrs of drill time before he or she may recieve equipment,
If accepted the applicant must participate in drills at least once a month (unless good reason not to attend).
If accepted and the applicant does not participate in drills or calls in a 3 month period the applicant will be put on
inactive duty and could be terminated.
